The Centre for South and South-East Asian Studies (CSSEAS) coordinates research, teaching and outreach activities relating to the broad fields of study indicated by its name. The Centre promotes fruitful collaboration and interaction between these areas with the aim of overcoming disciplinary boundaries.
The Centre's primary purpose is to design and carry out scientific, educational, training and outreach initiatives within its specific fields of expertise as part of the Department of Excellence Project. These initiatives may involve collaborating with visiting professors and, when financial resources allow, offering scholarships and research grants on topics consistent with the Centre’s objectives.
